Building Bridges Through Faith & Unity

Our Commitment to Interfaith Engagement

For over six decades, the Islamic Center of Southern California (ICSC) has pioneered interfaith dialogue, fostering relationships between diverse faith communities. Our work began in the 1960s with Dr. Mohsen El-Biali, who is believed to be one of the first to initiate interfaith discussions between Muslims, Christians, and Jews in the United States. Today, we continue this legacy by creating spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and mutual understanding.

What is Interfaith?

Interfaith work is the practice of bringing together individuals from different religious and cultural backgrounds to build relationships, foster respect, and collaborate on shared values. At ICSC, interfaith engagement is not just about dialogue—it’s about action. We believe that true understanding comes from working together to uplift our communities and promote peace.

 Join the ICSC Interfaith Council

The ICSC Interfaith Council is a dedicated group of volunteers leading our interfaith initiatives. They organize events, attend partner gatherings, and represent ICSC in faith-based discussions across Los Angeles. Whether you want to volunteer, attend an interfaith event, or deepen your understanding of other faith traditions, we invite you to join us!

Los Angeles is one of the most diverse cities in the world, home to people of hundreds of different cultures, traditions, and religions. In a time when division often dominates headlines, interfaith collaboration is more important than ever. By engaging with people of different faiths, we:

  • Strengthen our communities through mutual respect and shared values.
  • Break down barriers and combat misconceptions about Islam and other faiths.
  • Promote social justice by working together on humanitarian efforts.
  • Foster a culture of peace in a world that desperately needs it.
